Tribunal hearing and reclaiming ESA from date stop

Hi - I applied for tribunal hearing and have now received 'the bundle'. I read somewhere that I can claim ESA from the date it was stopped once I had the reference number for appeal. Obviously I have this but not sure how to reclaim if this is true. Do I need to send an accompanying letter, along with my sicknote which is continued from my last one. I was unable to claim jobseekers and have had no income other than PIP since March this year.
Thanks
Rae

Providing this was the first Fit for Work Decision or the first since an award of ESA then you can be paid the ESA Assessment rate while you wait for a hearing.

Contact the DWP office that dealt with your ESA claim, you can phone them if you want, payment won't be made until they receive your Fit Note and you will need to maintain an active Note on file with the DWP until your hearing.
