Hi Im trying to pull myself together and get my head around the PIP process.

Could anyone advise me on obtaining reports from my consultants, what to ask and how to contact them, I have 4.

I rang the secretary of one regarding another matter and enquired about a report for PIP, she had no idea what I was talking about!
Im finding it a bit hard to cope t the moment so didnt push her.

Could anyone advise me please how to go about it,

Also the consultants never seem to ask how it affects my everyday life, they only seem concerned in diagnosis and treatment.
What are your experiences?

Thank you x

hi
consultants usually send reports to gp's following appointments/diagnosis/treatment etc

i have used copies of those letters
they dont relate directly to the Pip descriptors, but they do confirm diagnosis and some of the related issues

you should have copies of those, but if not, your gp would be able to print them off

There's nothing special to it, it really is a case of just asking, you are either looking for support with your limitations in completing the PIP activities or statements about the problems that your conditions cause that can be used to imply your problems with the PIP activities. So for example; Arthritis in your hands may imply problems with grip and this would be relevant to several of the activities.

If they are stuck about what to write then there is a GP Notes document in the PIP area that you can use, either have them complete it or use it as a template for their own letter or report.

Lastly, your Consultants should have written to your GP each time they saw you so you could see what is in your medical records at the surgery.

Thank you both for your replies, you have simplified it a lot for me, just feel like running away, if my legs would let me, its all so overwhelming.
I have an appointment with my GP in just over a week, thinking of writing a letter for her to read whilst im there as went at the beginning of this week and just kept crying.

Hi, yes this is how I obtain medical information too, just go into your GP surgery and ask the reception for the form to request your medical history. You can ask for pacific info from certain consultants and certain dates, they might charge you but I haven't paid anymore than 15 quid, sometimes it's free, depends on the receptionist lol. Also if you feel more comfortable taking a letter in to the doctors with you, definitely do it as I have done this many a time due to anxiety as I don't always say what I wanted to say and if it's written down, then your Doctor can read exactly what the issues are :)
