ESA Support Group to UC

ESA Support Group to UC was created by Zennor
How will those in the ESA Support Group be affected if they have to apply for Universal Credit? As I understand it, I live in a UC area (Bristol) and may therefore have to apply for UC in place of ESA any time from next year onwards. Is this true, or are Support Group claimants excluded from the migration to UC? If Support Group Claimants do have to migrate to UC, will they now be means tested or will their benefits continue to be contribution-based only?
My DLA has just been stopped and I've had to apply for PIP which has been denied, meaning another appeal. The prospect of having to claim UC next year as well as go through this PIP appeal is too much to bear.

Being in the SG has no relevance as to whether you will be migrated to UC it is whether you are receiving any Income Related ESA that will determine this.

We are not sure what is happening to any ESA(CB) you may be receiving, it will either be left as is or moved to New Style ESA which is the UC equivalent of ESA(CB).

Thanks Gordon - seems like the uncertainty will continue. I'm assuming that moving from the Support Group and ESA (CB) to this New Style ESA will not be automatic and will require yet another a new claim to be made? I'll just have to hope they leave me as I am with no more persecution and worry.

Gordon you said,

Can you please clarify that statement a little? Are you saying:

(a) If you are in receipt of Income Related ESA then you will be migrated to UC.?

(Or . . .)

(b) If you are not in receipt of Income Related ESA then you will migrated to UC?

I'm not clear on what it is you are trying to say.

If you are receiving ESA(IR) then at some time in the future you will be migrated to UC.

If you are receiving ESA(CB) then you may be migrated to New Style ESA but as of today, it is not clear whether this will happen or not.
