Get your appeal in ASAP as then you will continue to get the measly amount you get in the assessment phase....then use the guidelines here and try and get help fromCAB/welfare rights and ask you doctor for a supporting letter re walking and sitting etc... they may charge but its worth it

Sorry to hear that, please think about appealing and see if you can get help from CAB to help you prepare for this, explain to your new doctor and show him the report, hopefully he will support you through this. I too failed my ATOS Assessment (again) but am appealing the decission and recieve IS while a wait.

If you really are so confused about your circumstances, may I suggest you make an appointment with a C.A.B advisor, they can put you in touch with someone who specialises in benefits and appeals; Good luck and stop being so down...think positvely and get the help you need!

Hi Jox
I'm so sorry to hear about what has happened to you. I agree with the previous posts re practical steps for you to take for your appeal but it sounds to me as though you don't have anyone you can turn to for emotional support? If I'm wrong, please do ignore my following advice. I wonder if as a temporary 'fix' whilst you ask your GP for help, have thought about phoning Samaritans? I am not for one moment suggesting you are suicidal which is the common view of what Samaritans is about as they also provide a 'listening ear' on the end of the phone for people who have all sorts of problems which leaves then feeling in despair.
Please let us know how you get on.
Kindest wishes,
maggie

Please don't despair. As someone with bipolar disorder, I have shared bleak moments with many others and I know that people have the capacity to survive enormous distress.

As regards coping on little income, have you seen these sites?

Feed a family of four for £100/month

The menu on there is nutritionally balanced, if a little boring sometimes. It may not be to your taste, but you can live on it.

There's lots of good advice on here about saving money. You might want to look at the parts about old style moneysaving and grocery shopping. Beware the part called Disability and Dosh, which has useful information but which also has trolls who think that people shouldn't get benefits, and beware the Discussion Time forum which has a number of hardened benefits-bashers. IMO they're not places to go when you're having a fragile day. But there's a lot of useful money-saving advice and support to be had on there.
