I know that this varies, but what would be a typical period at present? I thought that there was something of a backlog.
As you say there are many reasons why there can be a delay, but typical times appear to be 3-4 weeks before the medical is booked and a further 1-2 weeks before it is held.

Really, as long as that? I remember when I last had my IB medial (nearly 3 years ago now though) there was a pretty quick turnaround between sending in the form and someone from ATOS ringing me up to set a medical date.
