IB to ESA advice please was created by judyjude
Hi
My adult daughter is being changed from Ib to ESA. I had a Welfare rights officer fill the form in but having join and read B&W advice I can see it hasn't been fill in to achieve the best result. I know the form is difficult to fill in especially with certain illness ie CFS.
My questions are should I cross out the form or request another one? Will it be looked at more favourably if it was filled in by the Welfare rights Officer rather then by me her mother? Or could I add to the information that has been provided so far on the form?
Some of the problem is that boxes have been tick that might mean they wouldn't read the info in the box, could I just cross out the tick and write 'see use this space?'

I'd say look at it from the decision maker's point of view. If what you're doing is adding more information and making minor changes, then I don't see a problem with that, but if you're making the sort of changes that appear to contradict what the adviser has written, that leaves the decision maker wondering which is true and why you've changed it.

There's nothing to stop you getting another form and using both our guides and also teh advice you've had from your welfare rights officer to fill it in and add extra information.

I've not come across anything on here to suggest that having it filled in by someone else of itself helps you to get your benefits (as opposed to the help or advice you may have from an adviser).

The poster is not suggesting the original form was sent already to DWP . It seems the form has not yet been returned to DWP

If that is the case then certainly request another form (its always OK to request a extra form anyway in case of error) and complete it by following the advice in the B and W guides

X-factor - my advice was based on the position that the form had not been sent.

However, we would not advise that you use our guides to the exclusion of advice from a welfare rights adviser, who may pick up on points relating to an individual claim that our more general guides may not address.

You are correct the form hasn't been sent. I am just not confident the advisor knew anymore than I did apart from how to word the information. I don't think enough information was given though. Her parting words were let me know how you get on as feed back us useful for us so I feel it is a learning curve for her too.
I want to get it right first time. BTW now I have had a chance to read all the info on here I feel more confident to fill it in.

I assumed you thought the form had been sent because you mentioned the DM< might wonder why things were changed. Sorry if I got it wrong.
