Bro58 - Thanks for that link, yes that is quite helpful.

Think I'll have to contact my GP, MP and DWP and see how far I get.

I was hoping this was going to be fairly straight forward - how wrong was I?

Thank you for the advice.

Nicola.

Your post has really upset and angered me. To be put in a position that you are worrying about losing your home because Atos have failed to arrange a home assessment is unacceptable.

I think you have to tell yourself that this will be sorted out. It is clear that you will not be able to attend an assessment centre due to your agorophobia and you have the support of your GP. Your benefit should not be stopped if you deem to have good cause which you clearly do.

Would you be comfortable ringing your local BDC, or contacting Atos to remind them that your GP has written to say you need a home assessment, if a face to face is required? I would imagine they would ask you to put this in writing and a copy to both is good advice, which I would strongly recommend anyway, as in my experience, calls are not always logged.

If you are unable to resolve this and obtain the reassurance you clearly need, perhaps Citizens Advice may be able to help or anyone offering a mental health advocacy service, or as mods suggest - involve your MP.

I can see how you meet ESA criteria by gaining 15 points for not being able to 'get to any specified place with which the claimant is familiar' but it does not seem to be in the list of qualifying criteria for the support group - I don't know why not? There is always the exceptional circumstances criteria that can be used. Perhaps you meet other criteria listed?

Sorry if I am confusing you by talking about the assessment itself when your query is about needing a home assessment. Just thought it might be helpful, as I would imagine you might not want to end up being place straight in ESA's WRAG without a medical, as has happened to some people.

As i said at the beginning - try to be positive and fingers crossed it will all be resolved sooner rather than later.

Take care.

Hi Peter, thanks for that I'll give them a ring.

I've phoned Atos this afternoon to ask why they refused the home medical. They said my GP did not provide enough detail, apparently they want details about past medical history, current medical history, medication and reasons why I can't get to a medical in a taxi etc. This was not what I was told by Atos contact centre, they said my GP just needed to confirm that I was housebound and needed a home medical.

I've now booked a telephone appointment with my GP for Monday afternoon to ask her to write me another letter (the 3rd) to atos.

Hi Catherine, thank you for the advice.

I have called my local mental health advocacy service this afternoon, unfortunately their funding has been taken away for help with benefits but they did give me another number for a welfare rights group who have said they will intervene on my behalf if I get nowhere with my GP. The welfare rights group seem to think that my benefits will stop if I don't attend a medical - which is a worry.

I'm going to make a complaint to Atos and talk to my GP on Monday then see where I go from there.
