DLA change in circumstances was created by katyana
I have been claiming DLA low rate for care for over 10 years now and my circumstances have deteriorated a lot since then and I have both physical and mental health problems.

My question is how do I report my change in circumstance, do I write a letter or is there another form I have to fill in. Also as I have physical and mental health problems can I make a claim for both.

Thank you

Hi,

If your circumstances have changed, you should inform the DWP. This is so whether the the change is improvement or deterioration.
You can ring the DWP DLA section on 0845 7123456 or write to them at :

Disability Living Allowance Unit or Attendance Allowance Unit
Warbreck House
Warbreck Hill
Blackpool
Lancashire
FY2 0YE

explaining your current circumstances. We do advise writing as then you have a 'audit trail' of what has been sent. Use your National Insurance Number as reference and put this in every page of your letter.

In saying that though, your claim maybe subject to a review and it is possible (although a small possibility) any award on force maybe revised downwards or stopped completely.

If you read the DLA guides in the members only area it will explain about changes of circumstances. it may also be wise to obtain some face to face advice from a Welfare Rights Agency/CAB etc both to ensure the relative safety of your current award and also the realistic chances of getting your award increased.

Hi,
Could you not see your gp, or any other professionals dealing with you to ask them if they could not support you with a letter with your claim or in your letter request that they contact your professionals dealing with you for further evidence? Worth a shot. Wish you lots of luck and hope it works out for you :)
