you wont know what you actually scored points on until you request your ESA85 or ESA85a if you didnt have a medical.

then again, if like me that might not help either because all mine said was "customer meets the threashold" & i wasnt point scored!!

most frustrating

It's all so frustrating and confusing. My appeal won't be for some time and my doctor will only deal with the DWP request for support letter, so it'll be just little old me and letters from my friends and family for support. I did do permitted work from home but made myself really ill. I'm not well enough to do much as the whole of my nervous system is inflamed. I'm high risk for cardiac arrest. I suppose that won't make much difference. Keep smiling! :)

I guess it would, theoretically, be possible (although unlikely) for someone to reach 60 points by scoring lower points in lots of descriptors - especially as no notice is taken of the cumulative effects of multiple impairments.

Lindaturner - I had a similar response from my MP regarding the 12 month limitation of ESA. He hasn't yet responded to my second communication putting him straight on this matter!

mine neither... funny that :silly:

oh and I clocked up over 100 points when I worked it out

On another thread one of the mods said that the maximum one could score without automatically qualifying for the support group is 200+!!

Mrs Hurtyback.

As i have said in a different thread - the main problem isn't that claimants conditions have improved with the evolution of ESA - it is the descriptors and eligibility criteria that have totally changed. Having said that, there have been many posts where it is pretty clear that support group criteria have been met, yet people have still ended up in WRAG.

I know that Mind have been campaigning to get the WCA changed so that it does take into account things like the cumulative effects of different conditions.

Martin. At my last IB review, which did not involve going for a medical, I passed without any indication of what criteria the decision was based on or any justification for a six months review date (which is now six months overdue). I can understand your frustration.

I am going through a difficult patch and despair at the fact that vulnerable people with complex mental and physical conditions are being subjected to what could be described as an abuse of power (and lots of other things as well!).

I can only advise people to appeal the decision if they feel they meet any of the support group criteria and/or campaign for the WCA to be vastly improved. (Complaining is also an option.)

Best wishes
