Providing ESA50 Form to GP? was created by Marshal_534
Do claimants normally issue a copy of their completed ESA-50 form to their GP, as well as to the DWP?

Hi M,

Providing a copy of your ESA50 for your G.P., is not something that we have been made aware of by our members.

We do have quite a lot of members who have sent their ESA50 to ATOS as required, and also sent a copy to the DWP ESA DM.

Some members also provide regular statements to their G.P.'s detailing their conditions, and any resulting limitations/disabilities/needs.

There would be nothing to stop you giving copy of your ESA50 to your G.P., I don't know whether it would be accepted and put on your file though.

cheers

Sounds like a good idea to me. Though my GP has told me that she answers with HER IMPRESSION, which I guess is fair.

Hi Marshal

Claimants are not required and don't usually give their GP a copy of the ESA50, but there is nothing stopping you from doing so if you want to. CD commented about this in the thread below.

With hindsight I should have sent mine to my GP.

Thanks for all the replies.

My problem has similarities to the one outlined by CD.

The NHS have stated for maybe 6-7 years now, that they have no need to see me, because the protocol they use for my condition has been completed, (i.e. all the tests, investigations, tratments, referrals, have been made, etc).

Consequently, I have no need from a health perspective to see my NHS GP, unless I get new probs or new symptoms, other than to waste both our times talking about the price of fish, etc.

I speak with a Private GP regularly (I’m housebound), but I have found that the DWP and Insurers often seem to ignore these.

I've not issued written updates to the NHS GP before. I may do this, although I’d be concerned this might be branded as 'obsessive', or 'contrived'. What I am getting, is the impression that a key need for the DWP review is that your NHS medical practitioner must have actually met you regularly and recently. Being housebound, and with no other reason to see them, that’s not a small thing.

I think my underlying problem, is that there is a disparity between the NHS and the DWP. The DWP want me to give up to date recent evidence. But the NHS say that my case is done and dusted to protocol, so nothing to say. Basically, what I may have to do, is book regular (?) meetings with my GP, just to say, look, here I am, there is nothing more you can do for me, right?!?.
