is this possibe was created by paula
Have a question, my aunt received transfer from IB to esa and then questionnaire to fill out, which unforunately my uncle did not copy. My aunt had a phonecall asking her to go to a medical and she told them on the phone that she was unable to leave the house as she is housebound in a wheelchair and unable to get away due to severe secondary MS, my aunt has memory problems with this, and thought no more of it, and it is only recently that my uncle looking through his bank statements that her payments have been stopped. She has had no correspondence from them to say this, other than the phonecall. He is goin to phone them today I think to find out what is happeneing, should they wrtie to say payments have been stopped? He is perplexed and stressed and she is too ill to deal with.

Hi Paula,
Sorry to hear about your aunt, although claimants should be notified of a change to their benefits, it seems to be quite normal now for this not to happen.
I'm assuming the phone call she had was from Atos! they arrange the medical on behalf of the DWP. It sounds to me as though they took your aunt's explanation of why she could not attend a medical, as a refusal and notified the DWP. If your aunt cannot attend, they should have requested that she get a letter from her doctor stating this, to then try and arrange a home visit, though getting one is near impossible.
Your aunt/uncle should ring the DWP to find out why they stopped payment and if this is to do with Atos (as I suspect it may be)explain what happened with the phone call from them, that your aunt heard nothing more from Atos and that she wants the missing payments. She needs to ring the number which will be on any of the letters she has received from the DWP.
I hope this helps and that she gets it sorted out.

Anne

Hi Paula

The DWP normally write to inform claimants of any change to payments but unfortunately they can stop or suspend payments quicker than the time it takes to post a letter.

Hopefully your Uncle will find out what's happening when he phones.

Regards

Derek

Thank you for your replies and I wish all mods and m embers a happy new year. I did tell my uncle that he should write as well keep a copy, and ask that all correspondence be in writing so he has a record of what is said and where. They have had no letters at all after that phone call, and she cannot talk properly as it is hard to understand her now. Will let you know what happens. Thanks
