Medical Interview ESA was created by Milly
The interview was a farce the Dr admitted that the medical form did not address my health problems and there was nothing he could do about it. When DWP phoned to inform me that I had failed to be transferred from IB to ESA the remark was along the lines that I had turned up for the interview on public transport therefore was fit. So my advice is don't be stoic and too independant because this is obviously being held against you.
Fortunetely that CAB are helping me out at this stage but unfortunetly they are on a learning scale too.

Hi Milly,

Sorry to hear you failed assessment and hopefully CAB will help you sort this out.

If you don't mind, can i ask why you have been penalised for using public transport as a lot of disabled people have to use it as this may be their only means of being able to get around!!!!

Do you have problems with your mobility???

Hi
Sorry to hear about your problems. Seems strange that councils offer free travel on buses for disabled people and then this is held against you when you apply for benefits? Seems to me that they think that they think benefits should stretch to taxis for every journey!! Hope you get this sorted..

Hi,

It is not the actual use of the public transport that is held against you, it is more all the actions involved in using the public transport, which if broken down stage by stage are quite substantial.

Especially, if said actions contradict the claimants expressed level of limitations.

It is important therefore if public transport is used that these factors are taken into account, in that the actual travel to and from the assessment, may actually be used as part of the assessment, assumptions will be made by the ATOS HCP.

I would always advise that a claimant treats the whole return journey to and from the assessment, as part of the assessment, and indeed all stages inbetween.

Spot on observation. Actually my journey was difficult and required two rest periods. But as no notes seemed to be taken at the interview assumptions and judgements are obviously being made without your knowledge or contribution. This i wish i had been aware off.
