Hello all,

I'm sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find an answer if it has.

I am the primary care giver to my 16 month old daughter while my wife goes to work.

About 10 months ago I developed a back problem which has gotten progressively worse.

I am applying for DLA as I have been told (after an MRI) that there is nothing that can be done at this time and that I have to manage the pain with much medication.

My wife has had to take the last few weeks off work as I have been unable to look after myself, let alone my daughter as well.

Will the decision makers take this into account and if so what is the best way to include this information on the forms?

The DWP Decision Maker should take account of all evidence presented, however, they are entitled to make their own decision as to weight they assign to it.

You'll need to show you have had Care needs for at least three months and will require care for at least six more. The former may overlap with your care of of your child, so you need to think how you might (you don't necessarily need to), explain this in your submission. If it is your intention to continue to care for your daughter, then you will need to address this as the two may be seen as incompatible.
