WRAC group was created by Nelsey
I found out that I had been put in the WRAC group and sent for the paperwork to appeal, I went back to my GP here in France and he was happy to write another letter confirming I have long term depression, Fibromylgia, CF, asthma but says it's diffult to produce any evidence that I have the above. I have asked for my medical notes to be sent to my GP here in France and informed DWP that I am collecting as much info as possible so that I can be moved to the support group.

The main problem for me is being put in the WRAC group I only have 365 days of health cover here in France and then I will have to find work, which I cant do or pay 100% medical insurance the cheapest quote for the basic cover is 164 euro's a month!!

I'm at the stage that I'm worried if I do submit the appeal they could just cut the benefit and I will be left with nothing or do I go for it and hope that with the supporting evidence from my medical notes my GP may be able to put a stronger case forward??

I'm just so exhausted and scared that I dont know what to do for the best.

Hi,

Sadly we cannot really advise you one way or the other, all we can do is explain how the benefits system should work.

Only you know whether or not you meet the relevant descriptors for the Support Group although as you are aware, asking for a reconsideration/appeal dies carry some risk that what one has been awarded could be removed. This is something only you can decide on which way to go.

Please see:

Is there any risk to challenging a decision?

Something you may have to also consider for the future is what will occur if ultimately you remain in the WRAG and when payments will cease after the 365 day period.

Pete

Are they paying you WRAC although you are living in France?
