Hi all, I have been a member of BW for a few months. I have received the letter from DWP informing me that I am to be placed in the WRAG. It is my intention to appeal that decision.
My enquiry is related to the Contribution Based ESA that I am to get. I receive a modest pension from my previous employment; It is not a great deal as I had to finish work at 42 years old. I am now 61 years old. Will this pension I get be deducted from the money I get from the DWP? There’s also a statement on the form that I cannot get my head around, and that is on the last page where it details the amount of money they will give you, and I quote “No income will be taken off your ESA”. If anyone can explain this I’d be grateful. If this has already be answered somewhere else on the forum, I apologise.

Have a look at the following FAQ

Will my pension be disregarded under ESA?

The phrase you refer to may be related to the above.

Gordon, Thank you for the reply. I was having IB before 2001 and when you read the FAQ you directed me to read, the statement I mentioned above: “No income will be taken off your ESA” does now seem a little clearer. When I call them I will ask for clarification.
