Hi Fizz

Sorry you are having such a tough time.

I get HRM due to the effects of ME. This causes exhaustion and balance problems and so am unable to reliably and repeatedly walk 50m.

The cause(s) of ME are unclear and there is not a mechanical problem with my legs. Yet I have been awarded HRM due to the effects of my illness on my mobility. This is the important point.

Have you looked into getting a lightweight wheelchair? (I got mine from ebay but the Red Cross hire them out for free - I think you have to leave a deposit) It can really cut down on the stress when you have to go to hospital.

Also do you get free prescriptions? If not, and you are unable to leave the house without the assistance of another person then you should qualify.

All the best with your chemo

Hi Gordon,

That is good news as the walking is severely limited to a very short distance, very slow and requires many breaks. I struggle to stand long enough to brush my teeth and crossing a road is a long way.

I was just wondering if there was anyone else out there in a similar position to me that got the higher rate mobility.

I hope the DLA would come out to the house if they wanted to do a medical to upgrade my DLA as I am just so ill that moving me is a nightmare. ??

Many thanks again for all your help.

Fizz

Hi Daisy,

It is good news that you got the high rate care. Many thanks for taking the time to let me know as it gives me more hope for my position which has similar mobility limitations.

I have applied for a medical exemption certificate which you get for free prescriptions when you have cancer.

All the best for the future.
