Hi. I had a medical at home for my DLA application. I was turned down flat for any benefit. I di a Subject Access Request and got a copy of my file and the doctor's report. I consider that the report does not accurately reflect what was discussed during the visit. I looked the doctor up online on the GMC registration list and found that the name provided to me and on the report form was that of a doctor in his nineties who was de-registered by the GMC in January 2009! The GMC told me that I must be supplied on request with the doctor's full name as registered with the GMC (which is the name he is duty-bound to supply on reports etc) and his GMC registration number. Two hours and nine phone calls later (to DWP and Atos) I finally managed to get hold of his registration details and his correct name, which sounded the same as the name he had provided but was spelt completely differently. I was able to establish that the DWP and much of Atos was unaware of the doctor's correct name or that he was using a pseudonym. To my mind this raises concerns about integrity and duty of care - DWP sending doctors into vulnerable people's homes wwhen they have not even correctly identified the doctor or checked his GMC registration. I will refer to this in my appeal. The GMC are not impressed that he used a misleading name and said he has breached their rules. Doctors are given a lot of guidance by the GMC about how they should provide their details on reports etc so he will nto have been unaware of his responsibilities. Whether or not he is dodgy, he has opened the door to suspicion that he might be. They advised me to make a complaint about him, especially as I feel he has not accurately presented what I told him about my condition. They referred me to lots of useful info on their website (www.gmc-uk.org/) which I can refer to when appealing as it talks about how they must not misrepresent a patient's condition, and they mus not accept financial inducement to do so. There is also lots of useful stuff here (www.whywaitforever.com/dwpatoscontract.html)including copies of pages of the DWP's contract with Atos. I now believe I have some excellent ammunition to show that the doctor acted without integrity and failed in his duties to the GMC and also to DWP under their contract with Atos. I am going to use this in my appeal. I just thought I'd post his info here in case anybody else can establish that their medical was also carried out by a dodgy doctor.
