To be honest it's upset me. I can do very little due to pain my wife does the shopping and the eldest goes with her. The doctor asked do I ever drive alone I said very infrequently around the block, adding maybe once every four weeks.

At the end he said you've caused me a problem as you are severely restricted in movement and yet you drive, he then motioned driving actions. I replied I drive around the block once every four weeks to have a break and time out. He then said you can't get out the chair but you do this and that. This went on for awhile until I eventually told him I drive to a layby and cry as I can't cope and need a break and don't want my wife or children to see me. He then said you say you don't have feelings of self harm I said I can't say things with my wife here I then broke down. He then said now we're getting there and urged me and made me promise to see someone. He told my wife make sure he goes and tells his GP everything and said to my wife make sure you go with him.

He then left and said please promise for me you'll go to your GP as soon as possible as you in my opinion need help. He went on I can see you have a problem!

I feel sick with worry now. Will DLA take my car away because I drive to a layby once every four weeks and cry as I can't cope?

I know the mods can't answer on indivual cases but this is so stressful maybe five weeks worrying what will happen!

I am sorry that you are having such a distressing time. I would echo the visiting doctor's advice to see your own GP and talk over how you are feeling with him/her.

Please see your GP, I do hope all goes well with you and your considerable problems/worries.

Re walking in / out of home with a DLA doctor present at home.
I had an assessment in my home here in 2002, he did get me walking out in our culdesac/ street. He walked with me up and down the street. Then I was placed in Medium both for mobility/ care.
Later had another assessment in 2008 and they placed me in Higher Rate for care/ mobility without doing anything, just a visit and a cha. Placed in both categories indefinately. Will await as all will for PIP and its repercussions.!!!!

It's the fact he made such a fuss about me occasionally driving! I do yes but as I eventually told him to escape as I feel I sometimes might just explode and I drive a short distances down the road and cry. Sort myself out and come back to hide it from my kids and wife.

He said variable conditions cause DLA no end of problems. I said it occasional once every four weeks or so!
