Hi, I'm a new member who is assisting my sister who may well soon have to attend an ESA face to face assessment. The site offers a list of typical questions asked by ATOS Health Care Professionals (HCP's) inc those pertaining to a mental health assessment. However, the questions referenced on the site guide(s) appear to date back approx 5 years and further it is acknowledged that ATOS regularly amend the questions they ask.

Based on recent (say past 2-3 months) experience(s)have any members found that the range of questions asked in respect of mental health at an assessment/ medical are still broadly in line with the questions presented in the member guides, and if not, how did they differ.

Any feedback appreciated and hope this post is helpful to many members, and not just my sister !

My experience is of helping my son who has serious mental health problems. Can't help you directly re ATOS questions because he wasn't subjected to an ATOS medical, but I'd give you some background in case it provides you with some cheer. Obviously I don't know your exact circumstances and how they align with ours, but my message basically is the dreaded medical or the dreaded tribunal appearance may never happen if you have a strong case and get it down on paper, with supporting documents.
My son was on Incapacity benefit and was transferred to ESA - I believe that makes made it more likely that you will be dealt with without an ATOS medical than if it's a new ESA claim. I downloaded the invaluable B&W guide on mental health claims and tried to follow their advice re giving lots of examples etc. Spent ages filling in the ESA50 - filled up the comment boxes and overflowed onto separate sheets. Attached docs like paperwork from when he was sectioned under mental health act. Thought we'd made a strong case for being in the support group, but got a decision back within a couple of weeks of submitting the form saying he was in WRAG. We appealed and have just been told they've reconsidered and put him in support group. No medical, no tribunal.
I'd really recommend grinding through the guide and not giving up. It's hard work but sometimes we succeed.
