Hi

I had a phone call from a very nice lady at the DWP today telling me that after over 5 months of waiting to be transferred from IB to ESA I have apparently been placed in the Support Group. Without needing a medical. Muted celebrations as I await the letter of confirmation before I will truly believe it , she did go into some detail about the money I will be paid each week, additionally she also told me I would have my arrears backdated. So I am hoping the DWP haven't made a big cock-up lol and this news is actually true.

The downside is this award only lasts 12 months, so some time before August I will no doubt be sent another ESA form to fill in and off we go again. However if this news is genuine I am very grateful and have learnt that you have to be thankful for small mercies in this life.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks toall involved with this site and to all the mods who help us through what is a torturous process. I am sure I would not have been successful if it wasn't for all the valuable tips and advice available. I also hope my potential good news will give heart to those who are still waiting. Sincere thanks again.

A tentative congratulations :)

Forgive me, but I'm not sure I understand why you would receive any back payments, the normal process is to leave the claimant on IB until a Decision is made, and then begin paying them ESA, if a Decision has just been made, then I would expect your Decision letter to say that your Effective Date of Transfer will be in the next couple of weeks and from then on you will receive ESA at the Support Group rate with a Transitional Payment as appropriate.

This being the case, your 12 months will not start until the Effective Date of Transfer, although you should expect an ESA50 a couple of months in advance.

Hi

I am not sure either to be honest, which is why I am waiting for the letter to arrive. Unless they have looked at my DLA award as I am on HRM and LRC, I suppose it is possible they may have increased my care award or is it possible a decision was made ages ago and I have only just been informed, as I said I have been waiting for over 5 months with nothing at all from the DWP until, this morning.

I just hope the letter arrives asap so I can see what is actually going on. Additionally do I need to request any forms from the DWP so I can see which of the descriptors I satisfied as I will need this information for the next claim ?

Hi MCW,

Good news on your potential SG award. :woohoo:

" Additionally do I need to request any forms from the DWP so I can see which of the descriptors I satisfied as I will need this information for the next claim ?"

You could request the ESA85A over the phone by ringing the telephone number of the Benefits Office that is dealing with your claim. There should also be an LT54, and there "MAY" also be an :
ESA 113 Questionnaire , if they sent one to your G.P. also the possibility of an : ESA72 Form

See this list for potentially available ESA Forms that we are aware of :

ESA Forms

&

ESA medical – what forms to ask for?

We advise that you back up any verbal request in writing.

Hi P,

That is really good news regarding your wife !!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Three years is the maximum award that we are aware of, too.

Thanks for letting us know, and for your comments regarding B&W. :)
