I have been placed in the WRAG.
I have requested the esa85a report.
I am getting the GL24 friday.

I've got a GP appointment soon and want to talk to him about this.
What should i ask him to write in a report to help me be put in the support group?
I have M.E and attending these work interview things will make my condiotion worse.

An M.E specoalist is also ringing me tommorow and will write a report to, but again am just wondering what information he should include to help me.

Thanks, I have no idea how to challenge the decision and why they think i will better in 12 months... i wish :)

Thanks for all your help yesteday with info to look at.

We cannot advise you what you should ask your GP to write in a report, as we do not have access to your case files.

The same applies to your ME Specialist.

However, many doctors and specialists write letters which often just state 'my patient should be in the support group. with no explanations.

You need in any GP or Consultants report detailed information about your condition(s) and why it prevents you from working.

However, DLA/PIP is my area of expertise, so hopefully another moderator well versed in ESA can offer you more definitive advice.

Hi RH2012,

You can actually download and print off the GL24 Form (only from around page 20 necessary as the rest is advisory note) from the link on this page :

How to submit an appeal

You may also wish to review all our : Appeals FAQ’s , and our : ESA FAQ’s

There is also an ESA Appeals Guide here : ESA Claims Guides 5th link down.

This may also help : Qualifying for the Support Group

The important issue is to try and gain evidence that helps to prove that you qualify for The SG under at least one of the SG Descriptors seen here :

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2011/228/schedule/2/made?view=plain

You may wish to print this off and discuss it with your G.P./Consultant.

Your G.P./Consultant should try and shy away from making statements such as MR/MRS X tells me this, or states that, etc, etc, in other words you do not want it to appear as if you have put words into their mouths, not that I think many G.P.'s /Consultants would be led in this way.

Or Indeed the Non Functional Descriptors at ESA Reg 35, here :

www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/2008/794/regulation/35/made

Although this is harder to prove, as you have to show that there would be "Substantial Risk",

Reg 35 can be used as a back-up add-on though, to any of the functional descriptors in Schedule 3 in my other link to the SG Descriptors.
