Hi guys

The Moderators try not to interfere in postings unless there is a clear breach of the forum rules and I am not suggesting that this is the case in regard this topic.

However, the forum is not here to host discussions on areas of benefits that B&W is unable to advise on, and PHI payments is one of those topics!

We cannot provide advice on members financial situations except in the most general of circumstances and as PHI payments are defined by the contract between the insurance provider and the Employer and/or claimant, and are therefore not something that the Moderators can have any knowledge of, there is no additional advice that we can give on this matter.

I have left the post open to allow those interested to try and find an alternate venue for any discussion they may wish to have, but as this has not happened I am now locking this topic to further posts.

Gordon

Hi all,

Have you thought of meeting up on another forum, where you can PM each other to discuss PHI ?

A few members did similar here : www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/forum?view=top...96619&start=30#97704

The decision of moderators in these matters is final, and Gordon is correct to have locked the post, as it was my intention to do so, acting on behalf of Steve who is currently indisposed after surgery.

I suggest that members interested in PHI join www.youreable.com free and post there since they have paid moderators who unlike all our moderators on B & W are all volunteers and suffer chronic ill health/severe disability problems themselves. However, please be aware that Youreable moderators are not trained benefits advisers, but work for the Disabled Living Foundation, but will allow discussion on pretty much anything.

This is an advice/information forum on specific areas of benefits, so just because a member(s) are interested in a certain area doesn't mean we can deal with it.

An example would be Industrial Injuries Disablement Benefit, which is a social security benefit, but too complex an area for us to deal with. The same applies to PHI.

If you are not happy with a moderators decision, you are free to contact the site owner Steve Donnison, but if any member(s) wishes to to so, then please leave it to until next week before contacting Steve at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

I cannot and will not allow members to create a new thread, because their post on the same topic has been locked or deleted.

If problems persist, I will have no alternative but to ask our webmaster to lock the forum until Steve is well enough to post himself. However, I sincerely hope that this won't be necessary.

Finally, members should be aware from our FAQ, that the forum is provided as a courtesy, and is not part of your membership to access our benefits guides in the members only area. Members who persistently question moderator's decisions, or try to create new threads on the same topic which has been locked or deleted are breaking the few rules that we have, and risk having their membership suspended or terminated. To put things into context, less than 1 in 400 posts are deleted by a moderator.

Gordon, Bro and Mrs HB, due to my move on Monday, I will lose my broadband today, so the best way to deal with this situation or indeed where a minority of members ask for advice on topics we cannot cover is not to approve the posts in the first place. I will ask Steve to include a reference to this issue in the next Newsletterr.

Thank you for your cooperation.

This matter has now been passed to Steve Donnison for his attention.

Until Steve's post appears, please don't clear any further threads on PMI or other benefits that B & W do not produce guides about.

Hi All,

I do understand the frustration of members when discussions they are involved in get closed as being off-topic. But this forum is about ESA and DLA - soon to include PIP - and so PHI is outside its remit.

We would love to be able to let anyone post about anything anytime. But this is a moderated forum and it would place too great a burden on our mods.

In the time that we have been around, since 2003, every other forum that dealt with disability benefits has closed or been got rid of by its original owners and is now barely recogniseable. There have been bitter disputes between members and/or between members and mods, bullying via personal messaging systems and threats of legal action.

So far we have managed to avoid all that thanks to our mods always aiming to operate in a firm but fair manner and by no longer having a PM system - which is also open to abuse by journalists and people trying to sell questionable benefits related services.

So, disappointing though it is, I hope you understand why matters of interest to many members still may not be suitable for discussion here and why you can't contact each other via PM.
