P wrote: Hi,
I contacted Atos customer relations by email and asked where I should send additional information and they emailed me back with the address. I emailed again this morning to ask which DWP I should send information to. I got an email back saying that Atos has now provided medical advice to the benefits office who are dealing with my claim (Hanley benefit Centre) without the need for me to undergo an assessment. I expected my claim to be dealt with in my own area (Birmingham), is this normal to be sent out of area? I presume from this that I don’t have to go for a medical.
I haven’t sent the additional information as yet. Should I send it now to the Decision Maker or wait to see if I have to appeal? Thank again for your help

If you are being transferred from another benefit to ESA then this is managed by specialist units within the DWP, so it not unusual for the office to be different from your usual one, even if this is a "normal" claim for ESA, they may have asked another office to deal with it due to the amount of work they already have.

Yes, you should the evidence to the DWP office mentioned.

As you have been excused an assessment, this should mean that you will be placed in either the WRAG or the Support Group, as you cannot be found Fit for Work without attending one.

I've notice on other posts that it's said that a doctor reads the esa50 form. I was just interested if this was always the case or do they use a hcp at this stage.

Hi P,

Doctors only tend to be used without exception with certain neurological conditions.

Besides this, the ATOS HCP assessing your ESA50 could be a Nurse, Midwife, OT, or Physiotherapist.

They are all classed as "HCP's" including Doctors.
