ESA50 return date

I have received the ESA50 and it states to be returned by 3 April.

I have just realized that there is a bank holiday on good friday 29 March and monday 1 April

I was intending to return form by Special delivery on Monday 1 April

This is clearly unfair of ATOS as i am therefore not being given the full 4 weeks to complete this form as i will now have to ensure it is returned by 27 March at latest. I am effectively losing a few days i would otherwise have had if you see my logic.

I am already struggling to complete it as it is making my mental health conditions worse.

Hi v,

We have this scenario every Xmas and Bank Holiday period.

I am afraid that ATOS and The DWP do not make any concession for such scenarios.

You could post it guaranteed next day delivery, first thing on the morning of Tuesday 2nd April.

This of course can work out to be quite expensive.

I managed to return my ESA50 on 27/3 by special delivery.
However i didnt enclose a report by my consultant as i only receved it on 28/3. i did state on the form i would send it as soon as i received it.
I have sent it to the same address as the ESA50 is this right or do i need to send copies to anywhere else please?

Hi v,

Yes, you are correct in sending any extra evidence to the same address as your ESA50 was returned to.

You could also send a copy addressed to : FAO The ESA Decision Maker, at the address of the Benefits Office/Centre on any letters that you have regarding ESA, to ensure that the DM also has access to it, in case ATOS "lose" it.

Further, if it evolves that you are required to attend a face to face assessment, you could also take a copy along to that, and hand it to the ATOS HCP before the assessment begins.
