Attending a hearing was created by Bearer
I followed your advice recently, Preparing yourself for the hearing, P.26 of Appeals guide. HMCTS website states that hearings are open to the public normally. I turned up, a security guard at the door greeted me then made a phone call to the Clerk, and I explained why I was there - would be attending in a couple of months with the person I care for. Clerk apologetically asked me to return at a specific later time. I did, the details I'd left were checked, then I was admitted after showing identification, signing in etc. I sat through one ESA tribunal. I can say more if anyone is interested. Certainly a worthwhile experience.

Hi, so was this just out of interest about what happens at a Tribunal, and did you learn anything.

I have personally attended many Tribunals as a representative although I have no "legal qualifications" just self taught, to help those who needed it. I have been to a few of my own as well.

I`m just wondering if what you experienced during the tribunal would in any way help the person you are presently caring for, when they go to their hearing.

Was the person appealing their case on their own or did they have a representative ?

Did you feel that the person appealing was happy with the panels questioning or do you think they felt belittled ?
