I would chase the Tribunal Service as I would expect you to have had confirmation of your request by now.
You can switch to a Paper Hearing (that you do not attend), at any time. If you have agoraphobia then you will need to explain how you have attended a hearing, but this needs to be balanced against the issue of Paper hearing being statistically less successful than Oral ones.
If you decide to switch to a Paper hearing then you need to ring the TS as soon as possible and follow up the instruction in writing. As Paper hearings are held without notice you should make sure that all of the information you want to be considered by the panel has already been sent.

glad i asked now as wasnt sure how long to wait until i heard anything,,,ile ring them tommorow and chase it up .and also ask to change it to a paper appeal same time as i was advised by catchup ,in my area to put down for a oral appeal but i know it going to be impossible for me to be able to get there never mind go through it ,so even though the percentage of success is lower it better than not trying at all i guess,.

thanks ,
I think it more likely to be the acknowledgement of your appeal.
