Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Helen
No they will not ask as to what type of care they give, the carer has to be giving at least 35 hrs per week caring and not earning more than £123 per week. Have a look at the link I previously posted. You can request an application form to be posted out.
What I do find strange is that Carers Allowance is £66.15 per week which works out at £1.89 per hour or less if you do more that 35 hrs per week and the National mimum wage set by Government is £8.21 per hour, need I say more.

Thanks for the link. I would imagine it will be less £66.15 for my carer as we are on income related esa and I think they will take money off from that.
Thank yu for your help.

Hi Helen
No you will not get less, but your ESA will be reduced, what you get in one hand is taken away from the other. You will thought, get a carers premium of £36.85 pw. You will therefore be better off by £36.85 pw, if you are in receipt of HB then you will also get a premium add to your HB allowance.
