UC, Carers allowance and pip was created by Nivvy
Hi
I messaged last week to say I got awarded low rate daily living pip. As a side note I still haven’t received my award letter yet.
This morning I woke up to an email from UC to say I had to check my UC account for a new message. The message says -
Some other benefits can affect how much Universal Credit you get. You can continue to claim these benefits, but we will adjust your Universal Credit payment. Your statement shows you how we do this.
Our records show that you are getting:
Carer's Allowance
If you think this is wrong
If you no longer get this benefit you should contact the office you claimed it from. Tell them you're now getting Universal Credit and to update their records.
My UC statement is exactly the same amount as it usually is. Should I call them to find out what is happening? Also now that I have Pip is there anything I am entitled to? I have done a benefit calculator and it showed that I should get ESA and SDP but I don’t want to ask for something I am not entitled to or how to go about it.

Hi Bellaboo
I believe this is just a standard letter, DWP send out to claimants with a change in circumstances, in your case, your have been awarded standard daily living component of PIP.
We are hearing here on the forum that award letters are taking a while to be received. I cannot tell you how long, as it varies on a number of factors such as the area where you live.
Getting Standard rate of the daily living component of PIP will not change your UC award.
Unlike ESA, with UC there are no premiums such as SDP, EDP. You cannot claim legacy ESA once you are on UC, you may be able to claim New Style ESA but that would depend on your circumstances, have you given your work coach a 'Fit note'?
For more information on claiming NS ESA www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-employment-and-support-allowance.
Depending on your circumstances if someone claims CA then it could affect your UC, you can check your benefit entitlements by using an online benefit calculator: www.gov.uk/benefits-calculators or by contacting a local welfare rights worker.

Hi
I don’t have a work coach, I went on to UC in July after splitting with my partner..should I have a coach?
I have previously asked you about doing an MR and you said I should ask for a PA4 from them. To be honest I am petrified to pick the phone up or even go ahead with something like that. My anxiety stops me doing anything out of my normal safe routine and it just seems overly daunting to think about.
I can’t stand up for my own rights most of the time.
What will they say to me if I ask for the form?

Hi Bellaboo
If you are in receipt of UC then you will have a work coach. Everything is done via your journal.
We advise people to ask for a copy of their assessment, that way you have a better idea as to why you did not get the award you were hoping for. If you cannot phone the DWP yourself, have a family member do it for you, you will have to be with them to get through the security questions.
The only thing they will tell you is that you should receive the assessors report within 10 working days, although members on this forum have reported it talking much longer, some have reported it arriving within a few days.
