PIP Award 10 years was created by billboy
Just had a letter saying we have changed how often we review PIP awards for claimants who have reached State Pension age this means your PIP award is now for an ongoing period and has no end date. Reached pension age last November had an extension to January 2021 so don't have to worry about a review. Wasn't expecting that so great news. Hope everyone else gets the same letter.

Great to hear you had that letter.
I am 66 in April this year
Due to the pandemic I received a letter dated January 2021 that my pip award was extended until April 2025
I have not had a letter like yours? Do you think I will be one who falls through the cracks?
My friend was 66 in December 2021 and she had that '10 year' letter in the summer.

Hi DebbieM
Once you reach state pension age, you have a light touch review which can be on going.
I doubt that you will fall through the crack but one never knows
I am not aware of how claimants are chosen when they are near state pension age, as to what award they are given, it could be down to their disabilities.

How these ongoing PIP awards work is.
1, Your condition(s) disability are so severe/chronic that you will hardly be ever be able to cope, manage that well.
2, Also it's down to your age, that's also fractured in, when is was 57 in 2017 I got a PIP ongoing light touch at the 10 year. (light touch) what does this really mean? Regulations was supposed to have been published in 2018? But now stated 2023 for them to be drawn up, I don't believe that it will be a light touch but more bull ache like an AR1 form. Will see.
3, if you are at pension age? but yes there's a BUT. If you condition, disability is NOT so you'll get a lower award ir say 5 years.
I read all the legislation on this inside out. What the DWPs thinking at that time Amber Rudd was Minister, it was those over 57 and their Conditions/disability wasn't ever going to improve they would get a ongoing award for PIP, I was on indef DLA and moved to PIP luckily I didn't need a face to face assessment I had some very helpful mad I left team that got mine sorted.
Another thing to note the DWP was originally only given ongoing awards to enhance and enhance of both parts of PIP? But I've seen claimants on standard awards getting ongoing award now, I believe personally this was changed to save money.
Hope this is helpful

Hi bill boy, Yep I'm in the same boat, was worried out of my mind wondering what was going to happen next, I'm on new state pension and got a letter back from DWP PIP saying that my award was ongoing, and they may contact me after 2034 but not before, like other readers and members of this site a very big thank you to B&W of which I could have not done all this with out them. Thank You
