PIP REVIEW was created by alesypalsy
Hello there its been a while!,
I have today received my review after 3 years,
Firstly I would just to ask when i fill in this new review could i or should i add the PIP ENGAGE CHANGES as i feel the law applies to me and i should of scored 4 points in the past rather then 2 points?
I am not looking forward to filling out the form and will revert back to here for advice,, as last time my face to face was an absolute nightmare with the assessor writing completely different information as to what had happened in the interrogation
So if i can fill the form out correctly enough I hope I will be able to avoid the face to face .
I am going through the old assessment awards.
My last award was only awarded because i got hold of a copy of the assessors report before they had made a decision, and wrote a large letter in regards to its factual errors, I also complained it was not a true reflection of the assessment ,
So i am trying to avoid that this time.
many thanks and i shall revert here no doubt during the time it takes me to fill out the form and ask questions if i cannot find the answers ,
Hope that will be ok
thank you

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi alesypalsy,
Welcome back!
My view on form filling is to explain all problems you have with the descriptor activities. Don't worry about the law changes - if you can't do an activity now say so, and say when the problem started. If you are wondering about whether you could have achieved a higher award with the extra 2 points, that would of course depend on whether you had 10 points to begin with. If you only had 8 then no, as you still wouldn't reach 12 to get enhanced rate. If you already had 12 points you are on the highest rate anyway. I'm not sure whether DWP will acknowledge an historic award, but it's worth a try!
You can choose what sort of assessment you would prefer. At present the assessments are still largely telephone but I think face to face is being phased back in. At least if you have a phone assessment, you can record this more easily if you wish, and you can have notes etc if you need.
By all means look at the guides etc again, as I am sure that these will help you. The information does get updated from time to time, so it is all worth while checking after a long break.
Good luck with the claim, I hope that all goes well.

Following on From LL26 great advice is.
Any medical evidence you have, new is better. Even if you've sent it in before, still send it in, a point to note that many claimants are NOT aware any evidence that you have or may be able to get, if you can make sure that the words "private and confidential" are not on the evidence as this cannot be passed on to a third party. I've always got that removed on my evidence.
This is one factor claimants evidence has not been used in their claim. Any evidence you get try and get it where it shows your functional disability and is consistent as well... Another tip is write on the review form the evidence your sending, I do this all the time.
If you can show hard facts regarding your health like I did I received an ongoing award for PIP with NO face to face. Had Paper Based only.
Another fact to note is I never supply a telephone number to the DWP either, but that's everyone's choice, but I don't for the simple fact is I've heard so many saying about their dodgy telephone assessments?
Tip, make sure everything is consistent with your form and evidence it's key.
Good luck with it and keep us informed.

Thank you for your lovely reply, and also thegovermentgone to far, i really appreciate having some moral support here ,
Just to add I had been on 11 points , so if i had got the extra 2 points it would have made a big difference since 2016! Although I should of scored much more on all of my points, just seem to be cheated by the people in the system,
I also do not give any of these people my telephone number, i am nervous enough , so could not handle them calling me at any point!
I only have a letter from my dr which was because of the nonsense the DWP put me through with my ESA and PIP before, and i only have medication repeat prescription, so i hope that will be enough , otherwise looks like I am going to end up having a F2F.
I have been looking at the form and I have the very latest september 2021 version, it seems to have been cut down in size, maybe they are trying to lower the amount of points we can achieve.
Would it be better to write a full explaition on paper for each description and attach rather then just fill out the 3 lines they give you ?
Just to add, my asseor was a total liar , a physo therapy nurse who knew nothing of mental health, and told the exact opposite of what was said.
Well thank you anyway for lovely welcome back!

Hi alesypalsy
Our PIP Claim guide covers completing the AR1 Review form (1043 Review), remember, whatever the form says you are being assessed against the same criteria as before. www.benefitsandwork.co.uk/help-for-claimants/pip
It is perfectly OK for you to type your answers and attach them as extra pages to the AR1, just make sure that each page has your full name and NINo at the top and that they are numbered, we recommend "page X of Y" so that it is easy to see if pages are missing. Make sure you clearly mark on the form where your answers are and on the relevant page that you are answering question X. If there has been no change in your circumstances tick the relevant box and then write below please see page ‘x’ of ‘y’, you do need to explain your condition even if it has not changed. If your condition has changed, then tick the relevant box and explain what has changed and how it affects you.
Attach the pages to the back of the form using a staple or make a hole in the top left corner and use a treasury tag, string or ribbon to the form. The pages need to be easily detached so that they can be scanned by the DWP.

Hi alesypalsy you welcome I hope you can make use of some of the info supplied. It's good you don't give them a phone number.
Take note of what Gary has added as he has added some sound advice too.
As for only have a GP letter, I'm not sure if your aware you can ask your surgery for copies of your medical file, yes they are free of charge, if you've ever been under the MH team perhaps they could do you a report.
With noting what you've said not having much evidence to back up your condition(s) I find you may struggle getting out of any type of assessment i maybe wrong funniest of things can happen.
Wishing you the best.
