Dwp decision makers re PIP was created by diane858
Hi There,
Firstly i hope everyone is well xx
I.have just received a copy of my PIP Assessment report which is actually great news scoring me 13 points on daily living and 12 for mobility...do you think the DWP will agree with the report or could they remove points?? especially as this is my first claim that i wouldn't have been brave enough to apply for without your wonderful guides, so Thank You:)
Also i wasn't awarded points on.quite a lot of things i really should have been Especially planning and following a journey which due to severe anxiety and agoraphobia is completely impossible for me ,But score O points
So do you think. I should i write to the decision maker about this asking them to read my GP letter that had stated All of this? The assessor said I hadn't been seeing anyone regarding my anxiety and panic attacks But i did only last year, it wasn't helpful.and my GP letter stated i have quite severe anxiety/agoraphobia.... I scored points where i didn't expect too but None on the most Important things?
I understand i am lucky and if the DWP does agrees with the assessment then i will have enhanced on.both anyway...so should i still point out the inaccuracies Before a decision is made??
The assessor has Also written that i should not be reassessed as my condition unlikely to improve....Thank Goodness she had the common sense to see that my severe osteoarthritis of most of my body is degenerative and can Never get any better
Thank You
Diane xx

Hello Misty,
I have never known the DWP decision maker to award less points than the assessor has recommended, although they have the right to do so.
I have come across a number of assessments where the assessor is recommending an enhanced award where it feels as if once they have awarded 12+ points they simply stop, and I wonder if that is what has happened here. This is acceptable since their task is to see which award you should receive, rather than how many points you should get.
My gut feel is that given the recommendation is for enhanced awards for both categories and for an indefinite period is to stay silent and wait and see. The DM does of course have access to the evidence you have submitted, and you do still have the option of an MR if you need. But that is just a gut feel rather than a logical decision which says that you have the right to point out where the assessor has not recommended. Unfortunately this is something where we have to say that we don’t have a definite recommendation and have to bounce the question back to you to decide.
I hope that whatever you decide you soon have good news. Please do stay in touch!
Catherine.

Hi Misty,
This happened to me just over three years ago; scoring points where I didn't expect to and not scoring points where I expected to.
I tossed it around in my mind for a while, but following advice on the forum - plus my own judgement - told me to leave it which is just what I did as the award was the same anyway.
I hope this helps,
Regards,
Phrank.

Hi Misty
I'm with Catherine and Phrank on this one. I would wait to get your decision letter. If you get the enhanced award ongoing - it really isn't worth the time or stress. Even people who get enhanced for both often find there are inaccuracies in their report or it hasn't been scored as they expected. If you don't get what the assessor has recommended then there's nothing to stop you from putting in for an MR.

Hi. Don’t rock the boat. If you get ‘Enhanced Both’ and a recommendation not to be reassessed grab it with both hands and keep quiet!!!
If you don’t… shout very loudly

Don’t do anything until you get the decision!
