"Old Style" ESA snd private pension was created by eigenmode
I'm on the old style Income Based ESA (non-UC) shortly due to retire, and can claim a small pension of £1500 p.a. from a previous employer,

If I did this before I turn 66 would it affect the amount of ESA I get?

Thanks for your help,

Mike

Hi eigenmode

As income based ESA is means tested then any income you receive is deducted £ for £.

I would advise you to seek help from a Welfare Rights Organisation; You can find your local Welfare Rights Organisation to help you with advice by clicking on the link below and putting in your post code, it will then come up with a MAP with a list of agencies. advicelocal.uk

Thanks Gary,

I realised I hadn't typed in the second part of my question!

Will this small pension affect my position if I claim it after I reach 66 and am booted off ESA onto State Pension?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi eigenmode

Your state pension is not affected by any other pension you claim.

What will be affected is any means tested benefits you try to claim such as Housing Benefit, Guarantee Pension Credit, Council Tax Reduction Scheme.....
