Interesting article about Specialist Assessors for various conditions, but why won't the DWP implement such a common sense approach?

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Rob
In answer to your question, I don't think there's a chance the DWP will implement such a system simply because of the lack of suitable assessors countrywide, the increased costs such a system would incur and the time that it would take to arrange and process.
I'm not saying it isn't a valid idea - it is and as you say it is a common-sense approach - but unfortunately that is rarely taken into account when making such decisions.

Hi Bis,
Agree totally with you, but perhaps Claimants should be able to have the opinion of a Specialist Assessor as support if the claim gets to Tribunal stage. But as you say common sense is rarely used.
Kind Regards,
Rob.

Rob. The DWP won't ever do anything to give advantage to disabled claimants. We know this would make common but the DWP lack it.
