Downgraded because I care for disabled daughter. was created by Judy
The first reason I was knocked off enhanced rate for DL was because I, rarely, drive an automatic car. The second reason is that I care for my disabled daughter for 35 hrs per week and they've noted that I get the carers allowance for that, so how can I be as disabled as I say I am. In reality it is five hours per day and most of it is verbal prompting. She is mentally disabled and cant even recite the alphabet, she is 30 by the way. She doesn't know what order the months are and I have to tell her what appropriate clothing to wear for the weather. She can get washed and brush her teeth and feed herself but they've made me feel such a fraud
I will take this to tribunal but how to counter these horrible assumptions from them.

Hi Judy,
I answered your previous post, and given the problems with the 'you can drive and hence do everything' scenario, it must be even more frustrating to hear such negative comments concerning caring for your daughter.
Whilst there is nothing in law that prevents a PIP recipient claiming Carer’s Allowance for looking after another, it will always make DWP question, as you say, if you can care for another why can't you care for yourself! However the reality of life isn't the same as the at often proposed by DWP.
Basically what you have explained in your post is what you need to say. Explain your daughter's issues, the prompting etc. Perhaps she helps you do some things? Maybe she also needs reassurance and a friendly face, as well as just a watching eye, again all things that don't require physical intervention. If so, explain.Give examples. Then contrast with your disabilities, which I assume are more of a physical nature.
I hope this helps.
Good luck. We are all willing you to succeed.

Dear Judy
Just backing up what LL26 says, you are not a fraud, this is DWP's nasty mind games. We are indeed all willing you to succeed. Hope you get some support from your local Carers' Association, treating you like this is a scandal as you are being a caring parent AND saving the state an untold fortune caring for your girl.
best,
Denby
