UC wca telephone assessment advice please was created by Elgrand
Hi guys I have been waiting 7 months for a UC assessment after filling out the uc50 form, question is since filling in the form with as much medical evidence I had I have now been diagnosed with mental health issues including server anxiety that resulted in weekly phone calls from well being therapy team but my main issues are physical with spinal stenosis.
Since the uc50 was filled out I have occupational therapist helping with adaptations to house including stair lift and bathroom modification to wet room , I'm due the phone assessment in 2 weeks on the 4 hour time slot, should I mention the new diagnosis and the OT help will they take this into consideration ? I'm worried about the phone assessment any advice welcomed.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Elgrand, I would write down everything that has changed and all new referalls and adaptions you have had fitted so you have it all ready for your phone assessment. Absolutely no harm in mentioning what has been happening since filling out form, they can only say they can include it or they can't.
Good luck!

Hi just a short update, 24hr before the set time and date I get a phone call saying that a cancellation has come available can I take the assessment in 2 hrs, well I thought is this some kind of trying to catch me un aware or so well
The assessor calls odviously got clued up on my medical records and said can I ask about changes since last assessment 4 years ago and it started, shortly into about 5 questions he says I might not need to ask you much more and said I probably have enough to put to the decision maker , I asked after if I'm sure he has everything needed because it seamed very short and not too complexed after I got set up for a grueling assessment.
Please what's your thoughts on such a short assessment ? It was a WCA on UC I'm probably looking negative but was this a good thing ?
Thanks to all, who advise us worriers out here.

Hi Elgrand, that does sound really favourable to your application. They more than likely had enough information that you send to help them, and the short set of questions asked means that they have everything there to make a decision.
Fingers crossed for a quick and favourable decision for you

Hi Elgrand
Thank you for your kind words, the back office do a very good job in trying to keep all the relevant guides up to date. Last year they were being updated every two to three months with all the changes Covid was bringing.
Keep us posted on how you get on, remember you can ask for a copy of the assessors report (UC85) once you get a decision.
