PIP Review Supporting Documents was created by Newlyxx
Hi there,

wonder if anyone can assist me, received my 1st pip review, it says not to send a supporting letter from your GP, which I would of automatically have requested. Instead its asking for a summary of your patience record, which I can obtain but it all it has on it is repeat medications for the past year, referrals to different consultants and blood test results, would this be good enough?

many thanks in advance

Hi abundancexx

I would add any documents that will help with your claim including a doctors supporting letter.

Some doctors letters are not worth the paper they are written on, very little supporting information which usually costs anywhere between £25 to £50. Some doctors letters are excellent, so it depends on how you get on with your doctor.

Before sending a summary of your patience record check that it is worth sending before sending it, repeat medications is good as it shows your condition has not changed, if it contains referrals to different consultant that is also good.

We have forum members who always send everything that will help their cause.

Remember to treat your review as if you were making a new claim, don't just tick the box no change, explain how your condition affects you, if you need extra pages then write your name and NINO on each page and number the pages.

Hi abundancexx,

Always send anything that highlights your claim - even if it says not to send it on the form. Send anything new - or old - it doesn't matter, as long as it is relevant to your condition(s) now and enhances your chances of achieving a positive result.

My latest encounter was the ongoing award which I got in October. Even though the form stated clearly not to send supporting evidence from my GP, I did just that.

When I got the assessment report, the assessor referred to the evidence in the letter through several descriptors in a positive way adding that the evidence was consistent with my condition and thus awarded me the points I believed I should have scored.

As long as it is relevant, then include it.

I hope this helps.

Regards,

Phrank.

Hi,

The wording from them is deceptive "supporting letter from your GP" in this case means do not get your GP to send a letter saying "i feel this person qualifies because of such and such"

I recently sent a gp letter that confirmed my conditions and confirmed my exercise and walking distance, this was good evidence and helped me get an award. I also all consultants and specialists letters along with the prescription list.

Send what you can, ask your gp if they can confirm anything additional to support the consultant letters or provide confirmation where it hasn't already been.
