PIP Renewal was created by joshisidhu
Hi,
I submitted my PIP renewal form at the end of June (they received it on 30th June) - deadline was 10th July.
Award end date is 9th March 2022 (covid extension included). My question is if the renewal is not processed (with or without assessment) by the end date - will they extend the award until they give a decision?
Thanks,
Josh

Hi Josh
You need to try and ring the DWP asap and find out what is happening to your claim. No, they won't automatically extend it - so you need to flag up to them it is about to run out. Renewals that are close to their end date are supposed to be a priority - but you have been waiting a long time already. I know that we are close to Christmas, but if you can ring on Monday, I would do so.

Hi BIS,
Thank you for your reply.
I built up the courage and phoned DWP. They said “a decision maker decided that I need an assessment and it’s up to the assessment provider to send me an appointment - we (DWP) can’t do anything. So, hope you get an appointment before the end date.”
“We don’t usually extend awards but you can ask us to look at it if you haven’t heard anything by the end of Jan - start of Feb.”
I have since written to my MP requesting that she makes representations on my behalf to the DWP.
I just have to wait…
Best wishes,
Josh
