pip assessment telephone was created by richmond
Dear all
I had my long awaited telephone assessment and the assessor seemed very nice and understanding I had one of my mental health worker listening in to the call for support., I had a massive amount of support from 5 different hospital that deal with my many conditions, When I get my award I am only getting the standard rate for both, please dont think I am ungrateful because I am not but when I have so many untruths that scored me 0 points I was very angry, things I did not say , I am dylexic and dyspraxic and it was said I can understand routes and maps, when I worked part time I still had to be escorted around the building as I would go into a state of panic and if a bus diverts I almost have a break down, there were other things that need to be challenged, I am mentally and physically exhausted, my mental health benefits advisor seemed to think be happy with what I got which shocked me, I called the DWP and they extended the time due to my state of mind to appeal but not sure what to do, any advice welcomed. many thanks.

Hi Sam
We can't tell you what to do here, but I am surprised that your mental health worker says you should just be pleased if there are a lot of untruths in the letter. Have you actually rang for a copy of the Assessment Report - PA4 so you have the explanation of how they reached the decision. if you want to go one and put in a Mandatory Reconsideration - it will help if you have this because you know exactly what you're arguing against.
if you have a look at our guidance on putting in PIP appeals - it has the guidance for putting in a Mandatory Reconsideration and will help you decide what to write. Concentrate on the points where you didn't score or didn't score highly enough.

Only you can decide whether you want to put in for a Mandatory Reconsideration. Lots of people do and are pleased to win.

Hi I just wanted to update and check with you, I am overwhelmed and distressed as I had a meeting with my mental health welfare benefits advisor, I felt from the beginning after his comments that I should be happy with the award I received and now on meeting him he was rude and unhelpful, he also had the radio on the whole time which I struggled with to concentrate, he wont be helping me he had no interest in any updated evidence I had, I came away feeling at my lowest, please can I ask that when I get the MR form filled in that I supply new paperwork from the hospitals and mental health team as he thinks not? I am very confused and on the edge. Thank you for your time.

Hi Sam
If you have any additional new evidence - send it in with your MR. If you don't have any new evidence it will not matter.
