Mandatory reconsideration success was created by Peter Smith
Hi there,

Just thought I'd say that I was successful during the MR process although admittedly I wasn't far off with the points I scored anyway so I guess it's not that surprising but it's nice not to have to go through the rest of the appeal process.

The only thing is the award is only for 2 and a half years which I assume is quite common place?

Many thanks

Hi Peter

That is really terrific news, well done and congratulations. Are we talking about PIP or ESA?

Hi Peter and we'll done!

Yes PIP is often awarded for short periods of 24 months, especially if they think you have conditions that could fluctuate or get better, as they see it.

I simply couldn't believe it when my PIP claim was turned down for the second time. I made a successful appeal by Tribunal and was awarded the higher rate mobility component. I had my second assessment in September 2021 by telephone it was recorded by the assessor but also by myself. A couple of weeks later I received the result of the latest assessment and again I was awarded 0 points. The printed report was a replica of the assessment of 2018. I later received 2 CDs containing the actual telephone assessment. To cut a long story short. I wrote and complained to the assessment centre and also to the DWP by way of Mandatory Reconsideration. I received a telephone call from someone investigating my claim of a flawed assessment. Within a couple of weeks, my PIP payments were reinstated at an enhanced rate. A week after that I received a letter from DWP informing me that I am also eligible for more help and so now received nearly twice the amount of money I was originally awarded. I used certain words and phrases I found on this site. I am delighted with the help and would thoroughly recommend people invest in the information and help offered by contributors to this amazing site.
