Renew Blue Badge was created by weymouth321
Hello to All ,

I am about to renew my Blue Badge and see the criteria has changed in as much one has to apply as if from scratch .
I didn’t and regret appealing my pip 2 back in 2019 , got nothing for mobility , 9 points awarded for care .
I’ve since been diagnosed with an enlarged heart , Cardiomegaly. June 2020 , causing lots breathlessness and fatigue - also get fatigue from the rheumatoid.
The Medication for this lowers one’s blood pressure , hence the Dr not prescribe me anything
as have inherited family low blood pressure , which is fine , I currently have a monthly hospital infusion of Tocilizumab for the rheumatoid + Codiene for pain relief
I don’t wish to lie , but any advice would be very helpful
With Many Thanks , J .

Hi

not a mod but I have just got my blue badge, new application criteria but with PIP. However, the original expired 3 months ago and the chap on the phone when he rang up for payment, said if that happens again to apply anyway for my BB under mobility, One of my issues is inflammatory arthritis. You don't need an award, you can be assessed by them and some conditions, depending on local rules, will get you a badge.

The other thing do a change of circumstances, deterioration of condition for PIP, not sure on time frames, but pretty sure its OK for you to do that . Not great putting yourself through it all, but worth it if your award is improved.

:)

Hi weymouth,

Sorry to hear about your current health situation.

I am lucky in the respect that I qualify through my mobility problems. As for you I would suggest phoning your local authority and explaining your situation.

They should offer you a face to face interview in which you can fully explain your situation. A letter from your doctor or the hospital confirming your health situation would help no end.

I can only advise you of the system in my area, also I'm only a member, maybe a mod or one of the other forum members may be able to give you some more solid advice.

In the meantime, I wish you good luck with your application.

Regards,

Phrank.
