PIP was created by alliz.hislop7
When I originally received DLA, I was awarded enhanced mobility & standard care. When I moved over to PIP in 2018, I lost the enhanced rate on mobility and was awarded only standard rate - although my health had deteriorated and continues to deteriorated. .I realise that the criteria changed when PIP came into force. Since I am over pensionable age, I cannot now claim for mobility on PIP. I did appeal for MR in 2018 and pointed out how many discrepancies there were form my 2018 assessment - some things were just not true. I did complete another form last year and have now been awarded enhanced rate for care but still on standard rate mobility. How do I now go about claiming for the enhanced rate of mobility or is that something I have lost forever? I do believe, strongly, that I should not have lost the mobility award in 2018.

Hi alliz.hislop7

Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is

Welcome to Benefits and Work

I have to bring you bad news in regards to claiming mobility. The relevant age is State Retirement Age.

You cannot be awarded the Mobility as a new or an increased award after you reach the relevant age with the exception of the initial transfer from DLA to PIP where the age restriction is suspended.

If you have a Mobility award before the relevant age then you can continue to receive it after as long as you continue to meet the criteria.

MR's and Appeals remake the Decision being challenged and apply from the same date so if the MR or Appeal takes you past the relevant date you can still receive the Mobility Component if awarded as long as the original date was before.

The other bad news I have to bring is that you are out of time to 'Appeal' the 2018 MR decision. The absolute time limit is 13 months therefore you are not eligible to claim the enhanced mobility component of PIP.

Dear alliz.hislop7, so sorry you have been cheated of your mobility payment. The only moral satisfaction I can suggest for you is to become an evangelist for the usefulness of benfitsandwork.co.uk, and generally warn anyone you know/meet of the deceitfulness of the DWP and its minions. If you save one person from the fate you have suffered, you will have done a great job and in a way 'got your own back'. You could talk to people at the supermarket, coffee mornings, bingo, church, wherever. I still meet innocent citizens who think the government would not cheat genuinely disabled people, or that there are so many actual benefit cheats that the aggressive attitude of disbelief is justified.
They have a different view by the time I have told them a few things!

Hi alliz.hislop7,
Remember that you may still qualify for a blue badge even though you haven't got the PIP mobility award. You will need to fill out the long form. Please see this link from gov.uk I hope this provides a small comfort for you.

Thank you for your speedy reply. Think I already knew the outcome - but always worth a try just to ensure we haven't missed anything.
