Hello dear fellow members,

I just came across one or two articles that the intention is that pip is going to be scrapped and replaced by another benefit, and that a pilot scheme of some sort is starting in Scotland?

Does anyone know anything about it?

Thank you very much.

Hi VIA

Any articles about PIP being changed is currently speculation only. Keep an eye on the Benefits and Work newsletter. As and when there are any changes, news of it will appear in there.

Lets just clarify a little bit here.....

Scotland now has it's own agency called Social Security Scotland, and some benefits are being devolved to Social Security Scotland.

One of the benefits being devolved to Social Security Scotland is PIP.

If you live in Scotland and get Personal Independence Payment (PIP) from the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP), your award will move to Social Security Scotland from summer 2022.

A new Scottish benefit called Adult Disability Payment will replace PIP.

This will not affect anyone who does not live in Scotland.

Hope this was helpful.
