Hi , I was just wondering how many of you guys have had success with just a paper assessment?
Sending in my review form this weekend and I'm hoping that the evidence etc will be enough. I'm lucky that my consultant has written a letter highlighting how much I struggle with distance (one of the things he put was struggles to walk 20m on the flat) and the progressive nature of my disease as the last assessor seemed to think i would get better.
Thanks

Hi Fluke1974

Only a small number of people have paper-based assessments - as the majority have telephone assessments. Don't have any figures on the success rates of paper-based assessments, although I certainly know of people who have had one.

Hi fluke1974,
My Pip review was successful without an assessment, I too sent in evidence including a GP letter and friends supporting statement.
I have read several other posts where other forum members have also been lucky enough to avoid an assessment.
They made the decision without an actual paper review, I was told the decision maker had enough information from the evidence I had included.
So its possible - fingers crossed for you!

All the best,
Gaddy

Hi fluke1974,

After one hell of a fight almost six moths, I had a paper based assessment last year for the first time and was awarded what I thought was the correct result which is ongoing.

I had a very supportive letter from my GP saying that they didn't think I would cope well over the phone or face to face.

My advice would be to collect as much evidence as possible and be as persuasive as you can in what you state.

I wish you the best of luck.

Regards,

Phrank.

Morning. My last ‘review’ was by a DM and was paper based. Took 3 weeks! *It was after a Tribunal win so was treated as a ‘new claim’.* Shocked doesn’t cover it. I did spend 3 months gathering evidence and doing the application, and got a great support letter. I included a life times worth of relevant info and got extra MH points this time. I was ‘preparing for my MR’ whilst applying, so covered all bases and evidenced everything. The relief was immense. It was a 6 year award too, so a five year reprieve from stress. Good luck! .

Hi, I was given a paper based assessment last summer without asking for one and retained the same award. The review was done by the decision maker without input from the assessment provider. The one downside of this was that no report was produced showing the reasoning for the award which would have been difficult if I had wanted to appeal the decision. When I asked about this I was told there were some system notes for the decision makers own use but that I was not allowed access to these.
Best wishes
