PIP Assesment Audio Recording was created by Ibrahim
Dear All,
As expected, I have my PIP Telephone assessment by ATOS booked for 8 March 2022, and I am super nervous.
I requested the assessment to be recorded. However, they said they could only record it if I reschedule the appointment as they have no devices available on 8 March.
I suggested that I could record myself and the lady from ATOS said that's fine. However, I cannot use the recording on a tribunal as evidence only for personal use.
Is that right? I thought if I recorded an assessment, even covertly and got it transcribed, I could use it as evidence at a tribunal.
Shall I ask for a later appointment to record my assessment using their devices?
Thanks for your answers in advance.

Hi Ibrahim, I would definitely ask that it is rescheduled so they can record it if you can, it will normally only add a week or so to the date, but you can ask, and if it is too far away then it is up to you whether you keep the original date or not.
Recording your own assessment was agreed in principle with a group who campaigned for this. It cannot be used for unlawful purposes like publishing it. I am sure we will here all about it when iron out all the details. You can record it without telling them but if they find out they do stop you to tell you of the regulations but it is allowed.
You can definitely record it and transcribe it at tribunal, but not 100% sure yet if you can use it as an audio recording for segments of it, when it hasn't been transcribed as of yet, sorry. www.disabilitynewsservice.com/audio-reco...ssessments-says-dwp/ Greekqueen

They will make up any old fiction to try to frighten claimants imho Ibrahim. I would not have anything to do with any assessor ashamed to be recorded. We once turned up for a F2F for which we had given due notice [2 weeks] that we would be recording it, at the same centre where I had done so previously with a different claimant without any problem.
But that assessor was no longer there and the manager had not bothered to check with the 5 assessors she had in that ANY were willing to be recorded. [They weren't] We were rebooked for a different centre 3 anxious weeks later and jolly glad we did record it, because although he was very nice to our faces, that assessor's report was fit only for, er, bathroom use. We won at tribunal with many quotes from my DIY transcript proving the lies.
So please, be part of the mass demand for recordings, help to up the pressure on them to step up to the plate.

Hi Dawn
You can transcribe it yourself - after all, you can provide them with a copy of the recording if it is in any dispute.

Hi Ibrahim , I transcribed our daughter's assessment recording that I made with cassette tapes pre covid and we won at Tribunal. I went through the recording and put things in the Appeal submission like 'contrary to the assessor's statement that she was not distressed, she can be heard crying at minutes 14, 27 and 39 of the recording.'
She was awarded Enhanced on both.
Best wishes,
Denby
