PIP interview recording was created by Shopdoll
Hi,
I have a telephone assessment in just over a weeks time. This is for a new claim. Can I request the call be recorded beforehand and if so how do I go about arranging this?
Thanks

Hi Shopdoll
You can request for it to be recorded. Phone the number on the letter you have informing you of your assessment and put in a request. You need to act quickly.

Thanks. I called them and they seemed reluctant and told me I could let the assessor know on the day that I would be recording the assessment. I haven’t got the technical ability to do this so they have now cancelled my current appointment because they have to find an assessor that can record it for me on a CD? I now have no appointment date.

Hi Shopdoll
That is the problem when you contact the assessor and request the assessment to be recorded.
We have heard on the forum even when requesting the assessment to be recorded that somehow there was an issue with the recording.
You may want to try and record the assessment at the same time, just for your record in case anything goes wrong.

Dear Shopdoll, it is annoying but I look at it like this. Having [pre-covid] given due notice of us taping the Face to face, actually psyched daughter and self up for her assessment, driven 20 miles as our local centre had been closed down, waited for nearly 2 hours, we were eventually sent away with a new appointment 3 weeks later at another centre also 20 miles away. This was because none of 5 assessors in the building were willing to be taped and the manageress had not checked beforehand. But we stuck to it and so glad we did, because though the eventual assessor was very sweet to our faces, his report was utterly incompetent, much cut and paste and outright lying that she was not distressed. We were able to beat this and get her Enhanced x2 back because the tape proved she wept and wept etc. So please, don't even think about being assessed by someone too ashamed to be recorded! And don't forget you can have a friend present and they can deal with the recording if you follow Gary's advice to still do your own.
Best wishes,
Denby
