Text received from PIP - possibly the wrong one? was created by Robbie
Last Friday (25 February 2022) I posted back my AR1 PIP Review form. On Tuesday (1 March 2022) I received a text from the DWP to say "We have received the written report of your PIP assessment. We will write to you once we've made a decision on your PIP". This is followed by a timescale of 8 weeks for a decision.
Given that I only posted the form back 4 days earlier, and with a weekend included in that, is it likely (I'm assuming it is) that PIP have sent the wrong text? I would have expected the text to just acknowledge receipt of the review form with a message to say something along the lines of that I may need to attend a face to face appointment. With the backlogs PIP have at present I'm even surprised to get a text as quick as this. Should I just assume the text should just have been an acknowledgement of receipt of the review form?
I've been on PP since 2017 and have already had one review, in 2019, so have an idea it is probably just the wrong text they have sent me. It certainly surprised me to receive it though!

Hi Robbie
The text may not be wrong as the DWP could do a paper review depending on the evidence and supporting documents you sent in.

Hi Gary. Thanks for your reply. I'd like to think it was a paper review but the review form would only have arrived at the DWP the day before (I only posted back the review form four days before I received the text). The text was sent on the Tuesday morning at 8.03am which would mean that if a paper review had been done, the DWP would have not only received the form on the Monday but had scanned it onto the system, had a Decision Maker look at it and then make a decision on it.
I'm just going to assume the wrong text was sent, though I don't know what actions the DWP would take on a case to trigger certain text messages, i.e. whether a certain action automatically triggers a text or whether someone at the DWP can choose which text to send. Either way, I think I'll phone up next week just to check what is happening. I had been hoping to not have to phone the DWP for at least a month or two to query my PIP review.

I'm just clarifying what I posted above as I was getting slightly mixed up. When I posted "The text was sent on the Tuesday morning at 8.03am which would mean that if a paper review had been done, the DWP would have not only received the form on the Monday but had scanned it onto the system, had a Decision Maker look at it and then make a decision on it. " i should have written "The text was sent on the Tuesday morning at 8.03am which would mean that if a paper review had been done, the DWP would have not only received the form on the Monday but had scanned it onto the system, had someone look at it and write an assessment report".Hi Gary. An updae to my earlier post. It turns out it was the correct text. I gotr a phone call from a Case Manager at PIP three weeks ago today. I was asked three questions just to clarify what I had written on my review form. The Case Manager then said I should hear something within two weeks but wouldn't say what the outcome would be. I phoned up last week as I hadn't heard anything and from the message that I heard after inputting my date of birth, mobile phone number and last 4 digits of mybank account number I knew that I had been awarded an increase in my PIP. I was on standard rate mobility but worked out that I was now going to get standrad rate daily living too.
I got the letter on Saturday and sure enough I was now getting the standrd rate of both components. An added bonus is that the increase was backdated to the day the review form was sent to me which I didn't expect. I scored 10 points for both components. I'm happy with my award though I probably could make a case for getting another 2 points on daily living (and therefore get the enhanced rate) but I'm going to leave things as they are.
It's unbelievable how quick this has all been done. I got the initial text a day after I posted off the form. The Case Manager did say the DWP were trying to clear as many cases as possible without having to send the file over to the assessment provider. I don't know what the criteria for who gets their case dealt with this way is.
Good news too, I've been awarded both standard rate components for 6 years. A massive thanks to Benefits and Work as I completed the review form using the PIP Claims and Review booklet here at B&W as guidance. It really does help to give as much information as possible and to include as much supporting evidence as you can.
