Hi Mike1950

I honestly can't tell you what to do here. It's not easy to make a decision when you have already had one bad decision. Obviously, the moment you inform them, they are likely to send you a review form. You could ask them to do a paper-based review, but they may not agree. You can once again lay out your previous conditions that were ignored and tell them how much your condition has deteriorated. Back it up with any evidence you have. Will you be successful? I can't say. Are you likely to lose what you have already been awarded? I think that scenario is unlikely.

Hi Mike1950,
To add to what BIS has said- just because your condition has worsened, you may not necessarily get more benefit. Clearly if you can't get more award then there is no point applying!
For example if you previously could walk 100m, now you can walk 60m, you won't get more points as you are still in the same PIP descriptor band. (50-200m) Likewise, there are several descriptors for eg washing that all carry 2 points. Maybe you needed help to wash your lower half, and now can't do that or your hair, but since both activities are only 2 points, you can only score for one activity, and you can't possibly get more points, despite deterioration.
I hope this helps.

Dear Mike1950, if you have looked at the replies from the lovely moderators and decide to go for regaining your enhanced mobility, please do these things.
Insist [as soon as sent an appointment] any assessment is recorded, this means if you get another lying 'interrogator' [love your word choice, so appropriate!] - you will be able to prove, yes prove, they lied.
And once the assessment is done wait no more than 48 hours and phone for a copy of the report [PA4 if it was a phone one, PA3 for a paper based one]. If you happen to get another liar who says you can't have it, just end the call nicely and try again.
When you get that report, if it has more lies in it, things left out or twisted etc that would cost you the Enhanced Mob or std care, write immediately to 'The Decision Maker' noting this is not an MR but putting right all the main faults. If necessary you can add evidence eg NHS pages about medications, to counter what the assessor has written. Don't wait for the decision.
Doing this saved us a third lot of MR and Tribunal for our daughter! Recordings are a must.
Best wishes,
Denby

Hi Mike, The fact that your condition is progressive (degenerative) should be a clue, but this is the DWP we are talking about here. I personally would get several tons of medical evidence dated SINCE your last award, and see how it stands up (no pun intended). If it more than covers you, I would apply for a Change of Circumstances. If not, I would maybe spend this year gathering evidence and apply in a year’s time. Your choice. It is best to be sure of the outcome and cover all possible bases.

My approach to my last ‘renewal’ was to simultaneously prepare for my MR at the same time. That way I knew everything was ‘arguable’ and evidenced appropriately. Good Luck!

It is sooooo stressful. Do your best to ensure a positive outcome.
