PIP after retirement was created by paulsil
I currently receive the standard rate on both PIP components. The award is until Jan 2023. I reach retirement age in May. I understand PIP continues after retirement but can I apply to be moved up to enhanced as my condition has got worse? Should I request this before retirement or should I wait for the review which I assume will happen this autumn.

Nothing on this board constitutes legal advice - always consult a professional about specific problems

Hi Paulsil
You will not be able to increase the mobility component after you have reached retirement age so if you are going to act, you need to do so. be aware that even if you apply now, you may find yourself in the same position as several other members whereby the time it was processed they were turned down because of their age.

Hi Paulsil
I would just add to BIS's post that if you contact DWP for a Change of Circumstances, if successful then your award will be backdated to the date you contacted and notified DWP about your Change of Circumstances.
