i beleive i read a while ago that anyone on the legacy ESA can move to a different area, and continue to get the ESA paid without re-applying or changing to UC.
i was transferred from SDA to ESA around 7 years, to the support group, to start with it was contribution related, which changed in April 2020 after losing my partner to income related
just so i know how/what is the rules relating to legacy benefits?
If you do not require help with housing costs then at this moment in time your legacy benefits are not affected if you move to other local authorities. You will need to contact DWP and inform them of a change of address.
if you need help with housing costs and move within the same local authority then your legacy benefits will not be affected, HB will just be a change of circumstances.
If you move local authority and need help with Housing Costs then you will have to apply for UC and Housing Element. When you apply for UC, ESA will stop and any disability premiums you receive will also stop.
If you apply for UC before your ESA ends then you should be transferred to LCWRA group without having to go through the assessment phase.
