Blue badge letter query was created by Mia
Hi all,
I receive enhanced mobility PiP and am applying for a blue badge (for which I automatically qualify). I have postal problems, with my post being regularly opened/tampered with and am worried that when I receive the blue badge, the letter might also contain confidential information (such as a copy of my PIP letter that I am sending to them).
Could anyone tell me the exact content of the letters received after a Blue Badge application? Will I only receive the card with no additional info? Or will there be a summary of my application or any other confidential info? It is very important for me to know prior to applying.
I would be super grateful for any help regarding this.
Many thanks

Hi Mia
Welcome to the forum, you might want to have a look at the following FAQ which explains where everything is.
Welcome to Benefits and Work
You’ll be able to get a Blue Badge automatically if you:
* get the higher rate of the mobility component of Disability Living Allowance (DLA)
* get Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and scored 8 points or more in the ‘moving around’ activity (check your decision letter if you’re not sure)
* get Personal Independence Payment (PIP) and scored 10 points for Descriptor E under the ‘planning and following journeys’ activity (check your decision letter)
* are registered blind (severely sight impaired)
* get a War Pensioner’s Mobility Supplement
* received a lump sum payment as part of the Armed Forces Compensation scheme and have a permanent and substantial disability that affects your walking.

Hi Mia, as far as I can recall my husband's Blue Badges have been in the envelope with just the badge, the clock/holder bit, and a chunky booklet of 'do's and 'don'ts'. The booklet also has info on special places like Central London where things are different to the rest of UK. There might have been a covering letter but I can't remember it having much beyond name, address and a paragraph telling you to take good care of it etc. Hope that may be some help, others may come along with more recent confirmation or different info for you. Have you told the Post Office about your mail problems?

Hi Mia,
I recently applied and got my badge in February. I did it all online and got 3 different letters to say I had been awarded the badge. The first was an email from the Department for Transport to say it had been ordered and the date the badge was valid from and until when. The next two were from the county council saying I had been awarded a badge with a booklet on how to use it, and another about how to pay etc if I hadn’t done so. None of the letters gave any information about my application or medical conditions etc. (I don’t know what the letters are like if you are unsuccessful ,but you say you automatically qualify anyway because of your PIP award). Hope the information is useful!

Hi Gary
Thanks very much for your help. Are you aware whether a Blue Badge letter would contain any confidential information other than the blue badge itself? As I said in my post, that is quite important to me to enable to know whether to submit my application or not.
Many thanks

Hi Mia
There is no confidential information about a claimant when they receive the blue badge. It's just general information about the rules pertaining to be a blue badge holder - such as where you can use it etc.
